Funny Occurance

Today, something hilarious happened! A man (I shan't reveal his race or whatever.. You know, since the recent jailing of a blogger being racist. Heh. No offence to the regulators of the world wide web) was sleeping on the floor in the MRT. Then suddenly, he fell down to his side and lied down on the floor with his arms spread out like as if he was on his bed! Everyone freaked and avoided him and the space around him. To get out of the train, some stepped over him. Shoba, Jaya and I couldn't help but laugh. We then started to crack some stupid and rather mean jokes about him, speculating whether was he drunk or not. I admit that I felt mean, and wasn't a good samaritan, but it was seriously funny! And you know me, control my laughter is a challenge. At Khatib MRT station, two SMRT personnels came in and lifted him up and escorted him out of the train. He was like the walking-dead. Haha.. I guess he was extremely tired... Or high?? Or drunk... Haha. Anyways, it was darn funny!

WHY????????

Heart pounding. Adrenaline pumping. Blood rushing. Nerves overwhelming. Signed on the log. Received my paper. 55%. Crap. AGAIN?? I screwed it up. Read through the comments. Dissapointed. "What does the marker wants??" Sighed. No tears. Heart hardened. Spoke to God. I did my best. Perhaps could have done it better. Maybe alot better. But... I tried. Now thinking: WHAT AM I GOING TO GET FOR EXAMS????? WHERE HAS MY DISTINCTIONS GONE TO??? 14 more days to go... 14!! And haven't started on ANYTHING. Had mock exam - open book. Would have failed if did not have the book. Stared at the question: "In his article 'Perpetual Noise: Thinking about Media Regulation', why does James Donald argus that there is no such thing as deregulation? What are the implications of this arguments for media policy?" WHAT....?? Huh..? James Donald? Deregulation? Crap. Oh no. I am dead. Si. Mati. Need to work my butt off for exams. The fear. The nerves. The feeling of being a loser. Failure. 4 modules... Endless topics. Endless theories. Crap. Demoralised...

Miss Communicator sucking in Communications.. Ha.. Irony. Maybe should stick to Journalism. Miss Journalist??? O.o

Need to rely on my memory capacity. Need to increase it. Need gingko nuts (Ha..). Oh God, I need your strength. You are my refuge. I cast this fears and burden to you. Desperately need to study. Sarah, jiayou!! Live with confidence.

Random thoughts and occurances of the week

Romantic films
Earlier this week I watched an old and classic movie - The Mirror Has Two Faces, Barbra Streisand is in it, so you can imaging how long ago was that movie. Haha. Usually I find old romance genre movies cheesy and corny, but surprisingly it was so nice! The acting was great too! And she was a professor in the movie, so one scene was her lecture about the relationship between Feminism and romantic films (Haha, there goes Miss Communicator), then also about Foucault and Aristotle! It's so cool that I actually understood those theories and philosophies. Hahahaha. So anyways, it is typical yet not a typical love story, I mean, there was a happy ending, but the process was really funny and sweet. Especially one memorable scene is the couple having dinner, then a waiter asked whether do they want pepper, so he said, "no thanks for my wife, oh, and can you bring a side dish of salad dressing?". Aww... he knows her so well! And when she started to act out her idiosyncracy of cutting the vege in a patterned manner, he just stared at her and detaily mentioned about what she does. Again, aww... Hahaha, I sound like a hopeless romantic, but, just the idea of him knowing her extremely well is super duper sweet!

Another film is a Korean drama (something I analysed for Feminism for my advanced diploma. Muahaha), which my mom is obsessed about. I was passing time while she was watching it, so one scene depicts woman A was at the theatre with man B, so while she's eating popcorn, she dug out a note folded into heart-shape which read "shall we start a relationship?". I was like awwwww.... Hahahahaha. It was sweet! And honestly, it's indeniably a creative way of asking. Ahahaa.. I seriously sound like a hopeless romantic =.= But hey, I'm a W.O.M.A.N! Ahahahaha (I'm every woman, it's all in me. Know that oldie anyone? xD)

Argument
As the title suggested, I argued with my brother on Thurs night. On the verge of quarelling actually =( this rarely happens, so I felt quit saddened by it. So the next day while on our way to ICA in the cab with my mom she asked me how I felt (how Psychologist-ish), so I said I didn't like his tone and his facial expression! It totally reminded me of my dads, who aren't exactly role models, nor good men. But my mom also told me certain things that I need to change, and what my bro said that I need to change. So, instead of being all teary and angry like my old self, I kept quiet and reflected, then started to talk to God. Then this worship song came into my mind: Show me how to live, teach me how to pray, let all I think and say please you Lord. Yeah, so I asked God to really change me and show me to be better, in order to lead a life that pleases Him. It's great to talk to God and ask Him for solutions to problems, He'll really reveal to you amazing things :)

Masquerade Party
I was really looking forward to this party! It was so fun! And everyone dressed their best and looked good! The sisters all looked so pretty! Christina and two Sylvias looked exceptionally pretty!! Guys were checking them out! xD Elyn always look pretty la... Hahaha.

I put in effort to looking good too =P Muahaha. And Sammy said I look different (in a good way I hope), Willy commented I should wear like this to church (wahhh.. Thanks Willy but no thanks! It's very troublesome to look like this every week! Ahaha), and Josh said I look posh! Wooo~ Glad that I received compliments, not trying to sound thick-skinned, but I was flattered la.. Hehehe.. *grins*
Seriously, it was fun dressing up once in a while, let me emphasize that, once in a while! Unless when have dates, then have to look nice. Unfortunately my dating life is non-existance =.= Laughs. Anyways, moving on... the food wasn't bad, the party was good too, however, thougth that perhaps there could have more ice-breaking games. Many of us kind of stuck to our own tables. And there was this magic show by a brother! Hahaha. I applaued him for being so brave and exhibiting good showmanship.

The shoes I bought for the party (thanks mummy!) A new addition to my shoe fetish =P

My mask! Isn't it nice??? (say yes)

I forgot to take my dress, it's in the laundry machine. Haha. Will take it! I can't wait to see the tons of crazy and nice pictures we took!

Today's Sermon

Today's service is awesome!! Both the worship and the sermon is powerful. One of the song during we sang during worship was declaring how wonderful God is. I've no idea what the title is, nor the lyrics, can only remember one (if am not mistaken): Greater is He than me, Greater is He alone. It was beautiful! I started to get reminded of the countless blessings from God, how faithful He is, and I wouldn't be here I am without Him. I began to cry and really appreciated His agape, unconditional love, and declared my love to Him. The atmosphere was amazing, God's presence was so tangible, Holy Spirit was definitely there =)
Before the sermon, this trio girl group from Indonesia went up the stage and sang. They were so pretty! Hahaha. And boy can they sing! Thier voices were soooo perfect! The harmony was flawless! The lyrics were beautiful too! The song was Sempurna, meaning perfect, but according to Ponco (dari Jakarta), it's just a commercialised love song! But why not? We love God, and indeed He's perfect! Kau adalah darahku, Kau adalah jantungku, sayangku Kau begitu, sempurna~~ They sang in Bahasa Indo of course, thank goodness I understand some, and there was the English translated version on the LED. But, the lyrics in Indo itself was beautiful... I hope one day Kerispatih will come to CHC, I love that Indo band! But, I don't think they're Christians... heh
The sermon:
2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways......."
My people => God expects EVERY Christians to pray
*Seek God for who He is; seek the Healer and not the healing; seek the Blesser and not the blessings (this really strucked me)
10 Reasons why we should pray:
1. Temptations are overcome through pray
2. Heart is softened
3. God is found (wow)
4. Life gets refreshed
5. Soul is encouraged
6. Persistence is built
7. The Holy Spirit empowers you
8. Anxiety is defeated
9. Revival comes!
10. You'll shake the world! (Hallelujah)

Dinner with Family

We went for dinner with my grandmother at a restaurant at Sembawang. This is the second time we went! But since my grandma didn't join us the previous time, we figured just go there since the chilli crab is super shiok! Dad did not join, if he did, it would have been World War III! He + grandma = Atomic bomb (sad, I know.. They just can't get along at all.. Oh well, ADULTS!)

Here are some pictures we took (me mostly):

Why isn't my mom smiling??

Grandma!!!

Evolution (am NOT trying to be mean, but, it's the upsetting fact)

My irritating, oops, ahem, I mean, my dear brother

Divine~~~ But, the restaurant is more renown for its chilli crab, but, my grandma doesn't like spicy.. How considerate of us xD

Tempting, isn't it?

Pork Ribs... *Slurps Slurps*

And THAT'S how you make the food more tasty! Eat with hands!

A Day for My Mommy

It was Mother's Day yesterday, so being filial children (ahem ahem) my brother, Kwan (his fiance) and I decided to cook dinner yesterday, so with our limited cooking skills, we decided why not a steamboat dinner? It's quite easy, and doesn't require any cooking. To make it more interesting, rather than using the mundane chicken soup, we boiled tom yum soup. The soup was the most challenging, because we had to figure out the concentration, to make sure it's no too diluted or spicy. Thanks to my sister-in-law, who incorporated her Thai knowledge on it (yup, she's Thai! From Chiang Mai), it was a success! We had fun preparing and cutting the ingredients, and I made a fruit jelly and stir-fry vege. Phew, they turned out well and even yummy! Haha.. Cheng Gong! ^^

The flowers we gave to mom :)

Dinner is served! (the "before" scene)

Doesn't it looks like it comes out from a cooking book? (say yes)

My masterpieces :D

Mommy and moi!

My bro and (future) sis-in-law

The chefs =P

The "after" scene

I felt super full after the dinner. I need to go workout now, in order to fit into the dress I bought for the Masquerade party this Friday! xD Oh yeah, my mom blessed me with the dress!! Hee hee..

(Can't think of any title for this entry)

Again, I want to thank God, because I have a great news! Ready? drr..................... (drumrolls) drrrrrr.................. I got Distinction for my Journ assignment 1!!! Yay!! Am so happy! I did not exactly expect it, but pastor Tan preached that you can get once you see it, so I envisioned that I get around 73, and I got 71! Praise the Lord! I really want to thank Him for giving me the strength and the widsom :)

This really boost my morale, my confidence has increased (hehe), so am going to jia you for the rest of my assignments. But I'm dissapointed at myself for not putting as much effort in MA, as I fell sick over last weekend, and did not have the motivation to do it =( But I managed to do it, and handed it in. So I pray that I'll get a Credit (Distinction may not be possible, but hey, all things are possible with Him!), and envision it! 65%! So wait for my good news =D
Now am struggling with what to do for my 2nd Journ assignment... Have got not much clue, and it's due next Wed! :S Really need a miracle.... I don't even dare to think of my Psych essay and Interlearns (which are really quite redundant! =), not to mention my exams on June! Argh! I have lost touch with actually studying for exams. The last exam I took and STUDIED was during Diploma, Marketing module, which was 2.5 years ago.. Oh man, am nervous when i think about it. Sigh...

So today, i went for the medical checkup, and the first one was the blood test =.= I mean, come on, the first test?? Why couldn't it be the X-ray?! The doc had a hard time finding my vein -.-" so it hurt more than usual. So, after it, the Filipino doc told me to "press" it, "to avoid discomfort" (qoute and unquote from a poster on the wall), but like hello, I couldn't press it la! I had to hold this piece of paper in my hand, and rush down to the X-ray section. So while changing into a robe, I couldn't really lift my arm! It was agonising!

So I took photos of the plaster which the doc placed after drawing the blood, I know it's gross, but why not? Hahahaha... Warning: viewer discretion is advised.

A little too much blood right?

My poor arm is bruised! T_T (and typing these is quite a challenge)

PR and my day

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I received the letter of approval for my Permanent Residency application! That was so shocking! I was speechless and sort of in awed when I saw the letter. Haha. I applied during mid-November 07, and haven't gotten any news for months, so I sort of gave up, and wasn't in my prayer list for quite some time (oops, sorry God). But I did pray and fasted during Dec and Jan! Haha. But, yeah, praise the Lord! He really does wonders and miracles when one is not expecting it. One thing which has been in my mind is that since I started tithing, I have been really blessed in many areas. When we tithe, God bless us back hundred folds, not neccessary monetarily, but other aspects too. So, this successful PR applicationis beyond thousands fold! It's really one of the greatest gift God has given me. THANK YOU! He's really faithful :)
The downside of the procedure of confirming the PR is I have to produce a medical report, which means I have to go SATA for a medical checkup, which means... DRAWING BLOOD! Argh~~ I hate that! I know this may come up as surprising to those who know that i kind of enjoy gory movies (muahaha), but, yeah, I don't like needles. I don't hate them per se, nor is it a phobia, but I just don't like seeing my blood (MY BLOOD!) flowing into a tube..... :( Well, I have to grine my teeth and go through it. Oh Lord, be with me!!
went to renew my passport at negaraku embassay. Had to wake up so early, and go to Orchard then take a cab there (thanks mom for blessing me with $$$ to take cab =D). But I had to take so many trips because stupidly, we assumed that I'll be paying it in ringgit, but, no, it's in S$, so have to go change the ringgit at a money changer at Lucky Plaza. Then go back, queued and waited for 2 hours. I had to return at 3.30pm to collect it... In conclusion, it was a tiring day! On top of that, I have night class (in an hour's time. I'm blogging at school.)
Oh yeah! I have something to complain. I clearly told the cab driver Capitol Centre, City Hall. Rather than dropping me off at the designated location which I (a customer!) instructed (wait, a PAYING customer) nicely, he dropped me off at a taxi stand at bloody Raffles City! Grr... And I have to walk all the way to CC. Sheesh!! And I was tired! Ah well... Forgiveness Sarah, forgiveness...
By the way, I look like a pontianak in my IC photo, and now, in my passport photo, I look like a bloated obesed person! When will I take a decent passport-sized photo for pit's sake??!!

Movie Outing (Woo Hoo)

My CG and I went to watch Ironman! I did like the CGIs and graphics. The way Robert Downey Jr. wore the iron suit was pretty cool, and the cars that he owned (in the film... fictionous of course), *whistle* (unfortunately, it's a skill which I yet mastered), BEAUTIFUL! I loved the orange car and the bike! But, I think the plot is rather lame, as in, he became an Ironman because he was kidnapped by the terrorists... Yup, your eyes are not fooling you. And, the fights weren't that good, as compared to Spiderman Trilogy and X-men Trilogy. Honestly, I thought it was somewhat the worse Marvel movie =( However, Robert looked kind of hot in the movie :P Muahahaha. And there was some gore, which I was laughing, and Sitong was gasping at it. Muahahaha (my evil laughter)

Ahem ahem, moving on. I enjoyed the fellowshiping with them! Had a good time, and was glad that Simin came! Haven't catch up with her for a long time. Also, there was a new friend! Ermm... Li.... ermmm... I've got a confession... I can't remember his name. Oops... Hehe. I shall go repent.

Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day!

Yes! My classmates and I, along with our lecturer (she's really a sport) went to queue up at Ben and Jerry's outlet at Raffles City after our lesson on Tuesday (30 April). The queue was REALLY long! But it was worth the wait. Surprisingly we only had to queue for 30 minutes, which was pretty fast, consider the length of the queue! The PR staff were nice, and there was even a crossword puzzle game for us to play it, and obviously (being Comms students... ahem ahem.. do I sound smug? =P) we won!!
I mean, they won! Haha. I did not contributed, was busy deciding which flavours to choose. Ahahaha. Good thing I did not waste my braincells to do that crossword puzzle (no offence to my those who did the puzzle), the prize was a Ben and Jerry's post-it notes!! Laughs. And the PR staff only gave us one! Like one! How were we supposed to share the prize?! So, we gave it to our lecturer xD

While wating in the queue, Sharon took the opportunity to take pictures (yeppie). Sharon (left), Ana and Me!! Hee hee.. Ana was hilarious! She had ice-cream all over her mouth! Furthermore, when she held a blue Ben and Jerry ballon in her hand, she looked likie a walking advertisement for B&J. AHAHAHAHA!

More picture... As usual, we were the loudest bunch. Everyone was staring at us.

So after 30 minutes, we got our ice-cream! I had Strawberry Cheesecake flavour, which was DEVINE~~! Yummy! We had tons of fun, and were kind of higly-strung, probably because of the sugar rush. It was a good time fellowshiping and unwinding. We also got to bond, and know each other better. Oh, while we had our ice-cream, a waitress from Gloria Jeans Coffee offered us free samples of white coffee! Hahaha! It was a day full of free stuff! Later, the trashbin also came to us (I know it sounded weird, like inanimate objects walk??? Like huh?? But, this is the best I can express it, with my limited "communications" skill... haha... Sarcasm). We felt like royalty that day! Hahaha..

A New Bloggie in Town

Oh yeeeeaaah, I have created a blog! I just did not have the intention to, but, now I figure, why not? My friend has been pestering me to create a facebook account, but I'm not into these virtual social networks. Maybe by the time I create one, there will be a newer and better social network site. I mean, I created a Friendster account like in 2004 (haha... I know what you must be thinking). But it was useful as I got to know how my primary school friends are doing (Saint Joseph Primary~~!)

Okay, soooo, let this journey begin! but view it at your own risk, because I can get really wordy, and go on and on and on and on and on... (see what I mean?)
